We are a large day school comprised of three smaller schools on two campuses. Can more than one teacher from each of our schools appy for a grant or is this grant limited to one institution by name? Please advise us as soon as possible. We have had interest from three teachers - one teacher per school. Thank you. Holly Rosenberg

Can we include video with the grant proposal?

Holly, please look at the FAQ post. In short, all three teachers are welcome.

Rachel,
Yes you can include a video as background but we do not promise to watch it. The text should do the work.

You said that the school has to purchase the hardware directly. If my school has a cash flow problem and does not have the money to purchase hardware directly - is there a way for the grant to provide the money up front to the school?

About cash flow problems, see answer in the Q&A

Our school does not have a tech coordinator. Can the teacher partner with the tech coordinator at the local central agency for Jewish education as part of the grant?

Judah,
Teachers are welcome to partner with the tech coordinator at the local central agency for Jewish education.

We have just pruchased some very advanced technical hardware and we are looking to train all our teachers in its use. We are a faculty of 60 approximately 20 in each of three school departments. If training and implementation is allowed, is it only allowed in the Judaic Studies depratment or can secular department teachers also be trained with grant funds.

Dear Dr. Shimshon Hamerman,

You may submit a proposal for training, however please remember that this is a competitive grant and the foundation may find other ideas for technology experiments more appealing.

Eli

referrring to comment number 5- that as long as Judaic education is advanced , it is ok for teachers across the curriculum, so is a science teacher Ok ?

If Judaic education is advanced the project may be submited. A science project that will not advance Judaic education is not.

With reference to FAQ 9, can I apply as IT Director in my school? My proposal would involve a team of Judaic Studies teachers. Or, does the proposal have to be submitted by one specific teacher?

Eli said...

Dear Brenda,

Yes, anyone from the school can make the submision at this stage.

Best,
Eli

Would a proposed project in Heberew immersion meet the qualifications for this grant?

Eli said...

We cannot assess specific grant ideas in this blog. The foundation views Hebrew as an important subject in Judaic studies and central to AVI CHAI’s mission.
